There Is No Light by Wildbirds & Peacedrums
Formats: Digital (WLDBRDS2)
Release Date: 2 March 2009
‘There Is No Light’ is the first single to be taken from Wildbirds & Peacedrums’ second album, The Snake, which is released on April 13. This tribal, visceral song is as close as you can get on record to the Swedish husband and wife duo’s explosive live shows.
The encroaching electrical storm of Andreas Werliin’s percussion is detonated by Mariam Wallentin’s impassioned vocal, intuitively channelling the raw energy of rock & roll without the need for guitars. The spirit and chemistry of the pair is captured in the video for the single, which you can find here: http://www.vimeo.com/3015510
Wildbirds & Peacedrums have built a considerable live following over the last year, including appearances at Green Man, Wireless, The Great Escape, Concrete & Glass, End Of The Road, Venn and Roskilde, while the band have also played with Lykke Li, Deerhoof, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, F*ck Buttons, The Thing, Caribou and Jens Lekman among others. They will play two low-key shows around the release of ‘There Is No Light’ – one in Dublin and the other in London – and they will be available for interviews and sessions during this trip. They’re back in April for a full UK tour, and will return for further festival appearances this summer.
The Snake is the follow-up to 2008’s Heartcore album, one of Time Out’s Top 10 Albums Of The Year.
