Bandcamp Friday - in support of The Refugee Council & The British Red Cross
Published 1 April 2022 by DM

Today is Bandcamp Friday, where Bandcamp are waiving their fees in support of artists and labels for 24 hours. We have decided to donate all label proceeds from digital sales, and 30% of physical sales from today to the Refugee Council and The British Red Cross.

In light of the awful situation caused by the war in Ukraine, we are once again angered by the UK government’s response to the refugee crisis. The speed of processing asylum applications and levels of bureaucracy faced by those fleeing is unforgivable. The Refugee Council directly support refugees seeking asylum in the UK, and campaign for their rights. In addition, we will be donating money to the Red Cross’s huge humanitarian effort within Ukraine.

Many of our artists have also agreed to donate their share of proceeds to these charities today. Please support if you're able to.

It would be a good time to pre-order the recently announced Matthew Bourne and Nightports w/ Tom Herbert albums or pick up a copy of Keeley Forsyth's Limbs for example.

Nightports w/ Tom Herbert - 'October' single/video
Published 12 April 2022 by DM

Listen to the second single from Nightports’ collaborative album with double bass maestro Tom Herbert. ‘October’ takes a more abstract approach to previous single ‘Arcs’, and demonstrates the power and physicality of the instrument. If it’s power and physicality you’re after, watch the video produced by Leeds based film makers GOOD BOY! – an elegant portrait of a master at work.

“Recording the music for the Nightports album was a very straightforward and enjoyable experience for me,” Herbert explains. “I had nothing to prepare or learn and just spent a relaxed, if intensive, day of recording with Adam and Mark, who just let me improvise, occasionally throwing in a suggestion or idea for me to explore. They had the difficult job of sifting through the recordings and editing and shaping it into a coherent piece of work! I had very little memory of what I had played and I had no idea how extreme Adam and Mark were going to get with their production, so whenever they sent me anything it was always a surprise. I’m very proud of this music. It really feels like a great balance between and representation of my playing and their vision.”

The Nightports w/ Tom Herbert album release has moved to May 13th for the digital album worldwide and physical in the UK and Europe. The physical release in the rest of the world is now July 15th. This is due to delays in manufacture and transport of stock. Pre-order now on limited edition vinyl LP or limited edition CD via Bandcamp or your local independent record shop.
