Sarathy Korwar update
Published 15 February 2023 by DM

Sarathy Korwar is a busy man. Since KALAK was released in November, he's been touring with his own band in the UK and Ireland and joined Anoushka Shankar's band for dates around India. He's also been all over the BBC...

- Sarathy guested on an episode of BBC Radio 6 Peel Acres show with Tom Ravenscroft, which aired last week and is available to listen to now
- He's hosted an episode of Music Life for the BBC’s World Service. It is available to listen to on BBC Sounds and Spotify
- And to complete a BBC perfect hat-trick, he was featured in this recent article on Indo-futurism

Sarathy has curated a weekend of South Asian futurism on the 10-12th March as part of the Camden Roundhouse’s FUTURES season, and he headlines Brick Lane Jazz Festival at Village Underground on April 16th.

Somewhere in all of that, he'll find time to sleep. And he'll sleep well in the knowledge KALAK picked up some tasty end of year recognition...

Mojo - #4 Jazz Album Of The Year
The Guardian - #2 Global Album Of The Year
Bandcamp - Albums of the Year
Norman - Top 10 Jazz Album of the Year

If you're yet to pick up a copy of KALAK or are in need of a spare, you can find it here.

Live dates are here, with more to come shortly. Watch this space. Or... that space.

Snapped Ankles - Blurtations
Published 16 February 2023 by DM

What have the woodwose been up to lately I hear you ask? Well, it turns out there’s more where last year’s ‘The Fish Needs A Bike’ single came from. Paying tribute to their surrealist post-punk forebears, Snapped Ankles will be releasing an EP of Blurt covers for Records Store Day 2023 entitled Blurtations.

Ted Milton’s Blurt runs through the absurdist DNA of Snapped Ankles. An early iteration of the band played a version of ‘Planet You’ from different rooms of a dilapidated squat at a TOPOPHOBIA art performance night, and ‘The Fish Needs A Bike’ has found its way into the current blistering live set. They’ve recently struck up a friendship with Ted Milton, and the woodwose have been invited to DJ at Blurt’s upcoming show at London’s legendary 100 Club.

Packaged in a die-cut sleeve and pressed on yellow vinyl, Blurtations also includes a postcard which riffs on the artwork of Blurt’s self-titled debut studio album. Limited to just 1,200 copies for the world, it will land in European record shops for RSD 2023 on April 22nd, with a limited release for the rest of the world to follow.
